(And if you're an artist, you can use these ways to get your music heard!)
Of course, we reckon Grassroots Earworm is the best way to discover new Australian music, but here are five other places you can find new tracks from local artists.
AMRAP

This is the home site for Australia's community radio broadcasters, and allows you to see the current metro and regional charts of the most-played tracks of the week.
To discover much beyond the charts, you'll need to sign up as either an artist or a broadcaster.
AIR

The Australian Independent Records Association has weekly charts of releases from independent record labels and independent artists.
They're great to browse through, though you aren't able to play the tracks directly from the site.
TRIPLE J UNEARTHED

We all know this one! Being Triple J, it tends towards youth-friendly music, and is especially good for discovering new pop, hip-hop, R&B, and indie rock.
Make sure to scroll down and hit the ‘Discover’ section of the site so you get to see everything, not just the staff faves in the top ‘Popular Tracks’ section.
THE UNDERGROUND STAGE

The Underground Stage is run by Sydney photographer and excellent human being Alex, who puts together a weekly playlist of his 50 favourite new Australian releases.
His playlist tends towards new and emerging artists, and his site also presents interesting and up-to-date stats on new Aussie music.
THE AUSTRALIAN MUSIC SCENE

This well-established music blog also hosts a playlist by the same name, of new Australian releases.
Updated daily, and featuring several hundred songs at any one time, this one's pretty hard to keep up with, but a great source of new Aussie music.
And of course, there's us - Grassroots Earworm!
We curate two new release playlists, which are updated fortnightly (on alternate Mondays).
FRESH OUT THE GATE is our new release playlist for artists who are still building a following (with less than 500 Spotify followers) and have music that needs to get out into the world!
HEAR IT FIRST features new releases from artists who are really starting to emerge (with up to 25,000 Spotify followers) and deserve to have all ears on their music!
(Artists: you can submit to these playlists here).
So what are you waiting for? Look beyond mainstream radio and international charts and get discovering the awesome music in your own backyard!
