MUSIC VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Oliver Downes, While The Sun Shines

Puppets, 80s nostalgia, and the power of friendship take centre stage in the music video for Oliver Downes' While The Sun Shines.

The track is taken from the album of the same name, a collection of songs written at the time of Melbourne's covid lockdowns, reflecting on the challenges of living well under such difficult circumstances. Humour and sincerity sit side by side throughout the record, and are clear to see within the video.

‘The video quietly recalls the children’s TV I grew up on in the 80s and 90s while being entirely its own thing,’ Downes says.

‘Many thanks to Jemma Armstrong, Jackson Eather, One Orange Sock Productions, DSK Building Design, Willy Pleasance and Bespoke Folk Music for helping bring this little world to life,’ he says.

‘I’m really happy with it, though more importantly my daughter thinks it’s hilarious.’
